Goat Care 101: Getting to Know Goats

Are you thinking about getting your own goats? Or do you just absolutely love them like we do? Want to know what it takes to care for a dairy goat herd? How many snuggles do they need per day? How do you milk a goat? Does Judy Garland have beef with Liz Taylor? Learn the answer to all of these questions and more! 

We've been raising goats for 10 years and we've learned a lot along the way. On March 11 join us as we host an introductory class all about goat care and raising dairy goats! In this hands on class you'll meet our herd, learn about daily care and feeding, ways we keep the goats healthy, what happens during kidding (baby goat) season,  learn how we hand milk our goats, what we do with the milk afterwards and more. We'll share our stories, the highs and lows and lessons we've learned from these wacky eyed ninjas. 

Lunch will be provided by Farm Spirit (vegetarian options available) plus get a guided farm tour and pasture walk with the goats. Finish the day with a goat cheese tasting and the option to purchase farm products such as soap, milk, pork, etc.

There is a 4 person minimum required to teach this class, maximum of 10

We do have an intensive goat raising course that will include more in depth topics such as fencing, medicating, disbudding, pasture system layout, the business side of raising goats, barn set-up and layout, parasite prevention and treatment, the emotional rollercoaster that is raising goats and more!
